Ducati has launched the Ducati 1299 Superleggera in India at Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Italian marque’s flagship motorcycle, the 1299 Superleggera is one of most powerful and technologically advanced road-legal motorcycles that you can buy.
The 1299 Superleggera is painted in a unique red and white dual tone livery inspired by the Desmosedici prototype. It makes use of carbon fibre for the chassis, subframe, swingarm and wheels to keep weight down. Tipping the scales at just 167 kilograms, the 1299 Superleggera has one of the best power-to-weight ratios among the current crop of superbikes.
The 1285cc Superquadro L-twin engine has been tuned to deliver 215bhp, and breathes out through an Akrapovic titanium race-spec exhaust system. Ducati has also updated the electronics package. The six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) manages the rider aids like the traction control, slide control, launch control and cornering ABS. Suspension and braking setup has been supplied by Ohlins and Brembo respectively.
The limited production run of 500 units worldwide and its astronomical price make the Ducati 1299 Superleggera a very exclusive motorcycle. Ducati India says they have already received few bookings for the motorcycle, though they refused to divulge the exact number. Those wishing for a more affordable superbike can also settle for the Panigale R or its rival – the MV Agusta F4 RC which retails at Rs 50.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
