Looks like someone with access to the Project 1408 website was restless to show the bike to the world. A couple of photos of the new Ducati 1299 Superleggera have been leaked into the internet.
The 1299 Superleggera is the lightest bike Ducati has ever built. Dipped in carbon fibre, this motorcycle is all about exclusivity and high-end performance. With a dry weight of just 150kg, the new Superleggera will have an astonishing power-to-weight ratio when it’s officially unveiled next week. While the power figure is claimed at 215bhp, thanks to the WSBK-spec Akrapovic exhaust, it’s best to wait till next week to get a detailed overview on this Ducati.
This Superleggera’s frame, wheels, swingarm – all have been made using carbon fibre. The fuel tank has been made out of aluminium for better durability. The suspension setup is being taken care of by fully adjustable 43mm Ohlins unit at the front and TTX36 shock at the rear. Both sides get titanium springs to get the weight down.
Ducati will be making only 500 of these and if you need one, be ready to spend a whopping $80,000 (Rs 53.34 lakh). While the pricing might be on a super expensive side, but if you’ve the money, you get to own one of the finest motorcycles ever made.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details from the Ducati preview tomorrow.
