Ducati recently unveiled the new 959 Panigale at the 2015 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. Considered to be a ‘supermid’ motorcycle, the 959 Panigale is built on a slightly revised chassis and propelled by a bigger and more powerful engine. While one of the main reasons for this update was to make it Euro4 compliant, Ducati has also taken this opportunity to improve the aerodynamics and electronics of the bike. The Ducati 959 Panigale is an updated version of the Ducati’s middleweight supersports bike – the 899 Panigale.
The cosmetic upgrades, which include a wider fairing, windshield and larger air intakes, give the front end an aggressive look.
The LED lamp setup is similar to the one in the litre-class 1299 Panigale. The sculpted fuel tank is designed to allow the rider to latch on to it.
The revised split tailpiece design of the 959 Panigale gives the rear section a minimalistic yet aggressive look.
The monocoque frame, which has the engine as a structural element, is made of die-cast aluminium and gets a dual-sided swingarm.
The liquid-cooled L-twin Superquadro engine now displaces 955cc, and produces 157bhp and 107Nm of torque.
The front end rides on fully adjustable Showa 43mm inverted forks. Brake setup consists of dual 320mm discs with Brembo monobloc callipers.
Stopping power for the rear tyre is provided by a single 245mm disc with Brembo single-piston calliper. ABS is offered as standard.
The Sachs gas-charged monoshock in the rear gets spring preload, compression and rebound damping adjustment.
For the European markets, Ducati is offering the 959 Panigale with a twin-exhaust system, which makes the bike Euro4 compliant.
