Ducati has set a personal record for the highest number motorcycles sold in a year, for the seventh year in a row. The company moved over 55,000 motorcycles from its showrooms in 2016, 1.2 per cent more than what it had managed in 2015.
The US continues to be Ducati’s largest market with 16 per cent share of the overall number. European countries like Italy, Spain and Germany also witnessed a significant growth, while China doubled its year-on-year sales. Emerging markets like Brazil and Argentina also experienced a significant jump in sales. In India, the company has been going strong with the introduction of new models like the Scrambler, Monster, 959 Panigale, Multistrada 1200 and the new XDiavel.
The Ducati Scrambler has been the main driver for the Italian marque’s sales worldwide. The company delivered over 15,500 bikes worldwide, with the introduction of two new variants and the new entry-level Scrambler Sixty2. For 2017, the company expects numbers to receive a boost with the introduction of the Monster 797 and the Multistrada 950. Both these bikes are the new entry-level models in their respective brands and are expected to catch the attention of first time Ducati buyers.
