Ducati India has announced the launch of two Scrambler models in the country, Nightshift and Desert Sled BS6. The bookings for the new models are now open across all Ducati dealerships in India and their deliveries will begin immediately. Here we list the top five highlights of the off-road spec Scrambler, the Desert Sled.
Design
The off-road-biased Scrambler from Ducati is a fresh take on the off-road bikes of the ’60s and ’70s. The motorcycle features an all-new Sparking Blue livery with red and white details on the tank and mudguards that is complemented by features such as golden rims and a classic black frame. The off-road-focussed styling includes a high front mudguard, extended rear fender, high plate holder, and variable cross-section handlebar. The wire-spoke wheels feature a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear setup. The motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 209kg (kerb).
Features
The motorcycle comes equipped with full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster. The asymmetrically mounted cluster is Ducati Multimedia System ready. Apart from the standard information, the display also shows the selected gear indicator. The safety net on the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled includes dual-channel Bosch Cornering ABS.
Engine
The mechanical specifications include an 803cc, L-twin-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 73bhp at 8,250rpm and 66.2Nm of peak torque at 5,750rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed transmission that features a servo-assisted slipper function.
Hardware
The Desert Sled is built around a tubular steel trellis frame. The suspension setup on the motorcycle include Kayaba-sourced, fully-adjustable 46mm upside-down front forks and a pre-load and rebound adjustable Kayaba rear mono-shock – both featuring 200mm travel. The braking setup at the front includes a 330mm disc with radial four-piston calliper at the front and a 245mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper at the rear. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli SCORPION RALLY STR tyres.
Price
The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled BS6 has been priced at Rs 10,89,000 (ex-showroom, India). It rivals the Triumph Street Scrambler in the Indian market.
