Ducati Desert X, Diavel V4: New Feature
Ducati has added an essential feature on two of its motorcycles - the Desert X and the Diavel V4. This feature will help the riders reach their destination on time and comfortably. This feature is turn-by-turn navigation – a feature already seen on many mass-market bikes and scooters in India.
The turn-by-turn navigation system is quite helpful on bikes meant for long-distance riding and touring. This system allows the rider to reach the destination on time, as there’s no need to stop and check the maps on the phone.
Ducati’s turn-by-turn navigation: Details
For this system to work, the rider must connect Ducati’s official smartphone app to the bike’s instrument cluster.
Once connected, the rider must input the destination on the app and select start. Once this process is achieved, the bike’s instrument cluster will show turn-by-turn navigation along with ETA and distance to the next turn. Sadly, this feature is not standard, and the rider will need to buy it as an option.
Ducati Desert X: India launch
The Desert X was launched in India a few weeks ago at Rs 17.91 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The bike is quite expensive at this price tag, but it has performance, features and specific capabilities that could make it a great adventure motorcycle.
The bike has features like full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled five-inch TFT display. Further, the electronic aids on this model comprise six riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Rally, and Enduro), four power modes (Full, High, Medium, and Low), cruise control, Bosch IMU, engine brake control, traction control, wheelie control, bidirectional quickshifter, and cornering ABS.
In terms of styling, the Desert X looks extremely aspirational thanks to the presence of a twin-pod headlight, a tall windscreen, a semi-fairing design, a 21-litre fuel tank, split-style seats, side-slung exhaust, bash plate, and tubeless-tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels. The cross-spoke 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels are shod in tubeless tyres. Other hardware includes Kayaba-sourced upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock – both fully adjustable. Ducati will offer a wide range of optional accessories to customise the motorcycle further.
