Ducati’s newest adventure-tourer, the DesertX, recently made its way to India. At present, this is the most adventure-focused motorcycle in the Italian bike maker’s line-up. While we wait to get the bike to sample it comprehensively, here are some of the most alluring pictures of the motorcycle.
With the DesertX, Ducati has introduced a new design language which is unique and attractive. The most standout element of its bodywork is the twin circular LED headlamp.
The motorcycle boasts an upright stance with a tall windscreen, large side panels, a boxy fuel tank, and a minimalistic tail. Moreover, the huge sump guard and upswept side-slung exhaust make it look purposeful.
The DesertX rides on a 21-inch wheel at the front which is a first from Ducati. At the rear, there’s an 18-inch unit and both the wheels are shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
Damping duties on the bike are handled by USD forks and a monoshock which are sourced from KYB and offer full adjustability. The braking hardware, meanwhile, comprises Brembo-sourced dual discs up front and a single rotor at the rear.
Sitting under its sizeable 21-litre fuel tank is a 937cc, L-Twin, liquid-cooled motor that produces 110bhp at 9,250rpm and peak torque of 92Nm at 6,500rpm.
Ducati has equipped the motorcycle with an exhaustive list of electronic aids including a colour TFT dash, six riding modes, four power modes, wheelie control, a bi-directional quick shifter, engine brake control, and cornering ABS.
In India, the Ducati DesertX has been priced at Rs 17.91 lakh (ex-showroom) and it competes against the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, and BMW F850 GS in the Indian market.
