Ducati India has finally began the deliveries of an exclusive motorcycle, the Diavel Diesel edition. Priced at Rs 21.72 lakhs (ex-showroom India), the Diavel Diesel is the most expensive Diavel one can buy in India and only 666 units will ever be made for the world market. This power cruiser is known for its raw black styling and technologies, but there’s a bike that competes with it in the Indian market and is also an Italian. We are referring to the Moto Guzzi Audace.
Engine
The Ducati Diavel Diesel gets its power from a 1200cc L-Twin liquid-cooled motor. This heart generates 152bhp at 9000rpm and peak torque of 123Nm at 8000rpm. It gets fuel-injection and ride-by-wire system. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox, but unlike other fast Ducatis, this one doesn’t get the known Ducati Quick Shift (DQS).
The Moto Guzzi Audace, despite having a bigger 1380cc motor, doesn’t generate the same amount of power. It produces 96bhp at 6500rpm and torque of 121Nm, but peak output is at 3000rpm. Gearbox is the same six-speed one, but the final drive is a shaft.
Features
Being Italian and expensive, both bikes are bound to come loaded with features. But it looks like, the Diavel Diesel gets the most, making it a better package. It gets riding modes, LED lighting, ABS, Ducati Traction Control and hands-free ignition. The instrument cluster is a detailed one too, making it easy to read and operate while riding. The number plate mount also gets LED treatment, which makes it quite appealing. The Audace also gets three riding modes and a traction control system but that’s about it. In terms of gadgets, Moto Guzzi has taken a very sober approach to this cruiser. The instrument cluster is round with a small integrated LCD screen. There’s one special touch to the Audace - it gets a carbon fibre mudguard.
Price
The Moto Guzzi Audace is the most expensive of the lot. With a price tag of Rs 22.40 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), it is almost Rs 68,000 more expensive than the Ducati Diavel Diesel, which offers more features and aspirational brand value.
