-Expected be priced around Rs 12-13 lakhs
-Will replace the existing Hypermotard 939
-The 937cc motor has been tweaked
The Ducati Hypermotard 950 is scheduled to arrive in India on 12 June. It will replace the Hypermotard 939 which is currently on sale in the country.
While it continues to look like an aggressive supermoto, Ducati has given it some cosmetic and mechanical changes to set it apart from the outgoing model. So, the Hypermotard 950 gets a redesigned fairing which exposes more of the trellis frame and revised seating ergonomics. It also sports LED DRLs and stubby twin-under seat exhausts.
The Hypermotard 950 is powered by a retuned and revised version of the 937cc, L-Twin that did duty on the Hypermotard 939. The motor now produces 114bhp; 4bhp more than its predecessor and weighs 1.5kg lesser. The suspension is looked after by Marzocchi forks up front and a Sachs monoshock for the rear. Meanwhile, braking duties are taken up by 320mm discs at the front and a 245mm disc at the rear. As for its electronics package, the Ducati Hypermotard 950 gets cornering ABS, wheelie control, traction control and three rider modes-Sport, Touring and Urban. The bike also features a TFT screen which offers the Ducati Multimedia System that can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
The Hypermotard is also available in a performance focused ‘SP’ version which sports the Ducati Quick Shift system, Marchesini forged wheels and a few other carbon fibre components. It also gets a white and red colour scheme to differentiate itself from the standard model. However, it is likely to debut in the latter half of this year. Nevertheless, we expect the Ducati Hypermotard 950 to demand a substantial premium over the Hypermotard 939 which retails at Rs 11.17 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of competition, it will go head-on against the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 in the country.
