The Ducati Hyperstrada will be available in India starting May. The motorcycle is an extension of the Hypermotard family and the company calls this one a “cross-over”. Ducati is not officially present in India and the motorcycle will be launched here by their India dealers -Mumbai and Chandigarh.
Look at the Hyperstada closely and you will notice it is actually a smaller version of the Multistrada. It has ‘Ride-by-Wire’ system which allows a rider to select from three engine mapping modes which controls the power and torque. Selecting “HIGH” mode delivers 110bhp with sporting high torque, “MEDIUM” mode will deliver 110bhp with progressive medium torque and “LOW” option limits the motorcycle to 75bhp with progressive low torque. It also features eight-level Ducati Traction Control and Ducati’s safety pack with three-level ABS.
The Hyperstrada is powered by a 821.1cc Testastretta liquid-cooled L Twin engine that produces 110bhp at 9250rpm and 89N torque at 7750 rpm. The engine is mated to six-speed gearbox and the motorcycle has a kerb weight of 181kg. We spoke to both the official Ducati dealers in India who confirmed the launch. Talking about the pricing, this motorcycle retails for $13,295 (Rs 7.27 lakh) in US. We are expecting this motorcycle to be priced at Rs 18 lakh on road, considering the recent import duty hike on imported motorcycles to 75 per cent from 60 per cent.
