- Ducati XDiavel recalled in USA
- Affects close to 3,000 bikes
- No such announcement in India
Ducati has issued a recall for the XDiavel- its laidback cruiser motorcycle, in the USA. The announcement affects close to 3,000 units of the XDiavle S and Standard built from 2016 to 2023.
This recall address an issue with the ill-fitment of the pillion backrest on the XDiavel that is offered as an accessory. This incorrect installation could potentially result in a broken backrest and cause the pillion to fall off the motorcycle. It is important to note once again that the fitment is done at the dealership level and safety measures will include dealers to check the backrest installation for proper tightening torque.
Further, Ducati dealers would also be required to install a warning sticker on the backrest with instruction for proper use. These instructions mention that the pillion must use the backrest along with holding on to the grab strap or holding onto the rider. The backrest should not be solely used for support, or else it could potentially break.
That said, Ducati India hasn’t issued a recall for the XDiavel in India for the issue but we recommend visiting your nearest dealership to have it inspected, especially if the motorcycle is fitted with the backrest.
