Ducati has launched the Scrambler Classic and Scrambler Full Throttle in India. The motorcycles were launched at an event in New Delhi, which saw the Italian marque officially commence its operations in India.
The event was conducted in the company’s new showroom in New Delhi, which happens to be one of the world’s largest Ducati showrooms. While the Scrambler Full Throttle is heavily inspired by oval track racebikes, the Scrambler Classic gets old school styling harking back to the original Scramblers of the 1970s. Both the versions of the Scrambler are powered by the liquid-cooled 803cc V-twin engine borrowed from the Monster 796. Prices for the two versions are expected to be announced before the end of this month.
Besides the Scrambler, Ducati also launched the Monster, Hypermotard, Hyperstrada, Panigale and Diavel series of motorcycles in India. All these motorcycles are imported from Thailand as completely built units (CBUs), though the company might eventually start local assembly of models depending on their demand.
Speaking about their re-entry in the Indian market, Mr Pierfrancesco Scalzo, Ducati Asia general manager, sales and marketing, said, "In 2013 we began our groundwork in India and our belief in the market has been reaffirmed. This has been possible with great partners such as AMP, Infinity and VST. I have travelled extensively across the length and breadth of India, met Ducatisti, felt their passion and know that we will be successful in this country. Ducati will provide the same high standards of service in India as we do everywhere else in the world."
