Ducati has confirmed that it plans to include electric motorcycles as well as a scooter in its range by 2021. However it refuses to succumb into developing a small capacity bike for the mass market segment.
Edouard Lotthe, MD of Ducati Western Europe told French website Moto-Station- "Today, the things that have been confirmed, yes, Ducati will be entitled to electrification, yes Ducati will have the scooter in its range. This range extension will not arrive before 2021.” He also mentioned that Ducati is currently prioritising the upcoming Euro 5 emission norms for the year 2020.
Given the current situation of rising fuel prices and environmental degradation due to harmful emissions, it will not be long before electric bikes take over fuel-powered motorcycles. These motorcycles are not only environment friendly but also produce exceptional power and speed. Other manufacturers like BMW, Harley-Davidson, Honda and Suzuki are also slowly leaning towards electric bikes.
We would love to get our hands on one of these electric bikes from Ducati when they arrive. Imagine zipping around on a beautiful, red, wants-you-to-breathe-cleaner Italian!
