A test mule of the Ducati 1299 Panigale featuring a few performance upgrades was recently spotted testing in Europe, fuelling rumours about a possible update for 2017.
The test mule sported a conspicuous titanium Akrapovic exhaust system. This high-performance twin canister system has been inspired by Ducati’s WSBK-spec motorcycles and is offered to customers as an optional extra. Other minute changes include new wheels, revised fork bottoms and footpegs. The fairing also features cut outs to improve ventilation for the engine, while the tail section gets a carbon fibre seat cowl.
All these changes hint at a more extreme version of the bike along the lines of the limited edition 1199 Panigale Superleggera, though there is no confirmation regarding the same. With the Italian marque’s 90th anniversary drawing closer, this model might be a celebratory limited edition bike. Apart from this, Ducati has also announced two mysterious new models for this year, which are going to be unveiled at the World Ducati Week.
