Ducati is commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Monster with a special edition model, christened as the Monster 1200 25 Anniversario. Based on the 1198cc streetfighter, the motorcycle features a slew of visual upgrades to set it apart in a crowd. Here is a photo gallery the Ducati Monster 1200 25 Anniversario -
The Monster 1200 25 Anniversario is finished in a special livery featuring colours from the Italian flag, inspired by the 2008 Monster S4RS Testastretta Tricolore.
Only 500 units of the Monster 1200 25 Anniversario are going to be built, and each motorcycle will get a plaque on the frame with its unique serial number.
The Monster 1200 25 Anniversario is peppered with billet aluminium detailing for the mirrors, frame plugs, bar-ends and the fuel tank cap.
The brake and clutch levers and the number plate holder are made out of aluminium while the fenders, belt covers and the exhaust heat shield are made out of carbon fibre.
It rides on gold-coloured Marchesini forged alloys with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres. The lightweight wheels contribute in making the bike three kilograms lighter.
Below the handlebar is a steering damper sourced from Ohlins to prevent those nasty tank slappers. It also gets grips similar to the Superleggera 1299.
The Monster 1200 25 Anniversario gets the same 1198cc Testastretta L-twin engine, delivering 144bhp and 124Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with a quickshifter. The rider aids include riding and power modes, cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control.
The suspension setup consists of 48mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock. Both have been sourced from Ohlins and are fully adjustable.
The brake setup consists of dual 330mm discs with Brembo monobloc callipers at the front and a 245mm disc at the rear.
