Ducati India had announced in February that it will be launching five motorcycles in 2017. Tomorrow, the Ducati Multistrada 950 and the Monster 797 will be launched for the Indian market.
Both the bikes were unveiled at EICMA 2016. The Ducati Monster 797 derives power from the Scrambler’s air-cooled 803cc L-twin engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. This mill produces 74bhp of maximum power at 8,250rpm and 68.9Nm of peak torque. It features an upside down Kayaba fork up front and a Sachs rear mono shock. The Monster 797 sits on a traditional tubular steel trellis frame and tips the scales at 193kg. The bike also features a two-sided aluminium swingarm.
The Ducati Multistrada 950, on the other hand, is powered by a 937cc twin-cylinder Testastretta mill coupled to a six-speed gearbox. This motor churns out 113bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 96.2Nm of torque at 7,750rpm. The motorcycles gets four riding modes (Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro). The manufacturer claims that 80 per cent of the torque is available between 3,500 and 9,500rpm.
Both the Multistrada 950 and the Monster 797 are entry-level models in their respective lineups. The Multistrada 950 was developed based on the success of its larger sibling, the Multistrada 1200. The new motorcycle is expected to be priced at around Rs 11.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Meanwhile, the Ducati Monster 797 will also be an entry-level offering in the Monster portfolio, expected to be priced around Rs 7.8 lakh. Thanks to the smaller engine capacity and a more affordable price, both these segments will now be more accessible to buyers.
