Ducati Monster 797 – what else you can buy?

Ducati has once again stirred up competition in the middle-weight street bike category with the launch of Monster 797 in the country. One of the more affordable Ducatis on offer in India, this new bike has been positioned below the Monster 821. But bike enthusiasts in the country whoare looking for other options in the mid-weight category can also consider the Harley Davidson Street Iron 883, Honda CBR 650F, Triumph Street Twin, Kawasaki Versys 650, Ducati Scrambler Icon, Triumph Bonneville T100 and Triumph Street Triple 765

But first, here´s what you need to know about the new the Ducati Monster 797.This bike gets an 803cc air-cooled engine that generates 74bhp of power at 8,250 rpm and 69Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. Like its older sibling, the bike continues to get a trellis frame, wide handlebars, double-sided swingarm and LED headlamps. ABS is offered as a standard on the motorcycle. The Monster 797 is available at an introductory price of Rs 7.77 lakhs. 

Harley Davidson Iron 883 is powered by a 883cc engine that generates 50bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 70Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. The engine is mated to a five speed transmission. The bike does not get fancy electronics and is limited to LCD display in the instrument cluster which shows the gear position revs and other details. The Iron 883 is priced at Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Honda CBR650F is powered by a 649cc, 4-cylinder engine that generates 84bhp of power at 11,000rpm and 63Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The bike gets a fully electronic twin-pod instrument cluster which displays a speedometer, bar tachometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge and a clock. It also comes with an electronic anti-theft device called Honda Ignition Security System (HISS). The CBR 650F is priced at Rs 6.57 lakhs. 

Triumph Street Twin is powered by a 900cc engine that generates 54bhp of power at 5,900rpm and 80Nm of torque at 3,230rpm. The bike comes mated to five-speed transmission and gets features like ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, and LED lamps. The Street Twin is priced at Rs 7.12 lakhs. 

Kawasaki Versys 650 is powered by a 649cc engine that generates 67bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 64Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. ABS is offered as standard and it gets a KYB mono-shock with a remote preload adjuster. The Versys 650 is priced at Rs 6.60 lakhs. 

 

Ducati Scrambler Icon is powered by a 803cc engine which produces 74bhp of power at 8,250rpm and 68Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. The bike comes Mated to a six-speed transmission and in terms of features gets ABS as standard along with interchangeable aluminium side panels. The Scrambler Icon is priced at Rs 7.0 lakhs.

 

Triumph Bonneville T100 is powered by a 900cc engine that generates 54bhp of power at 5,900rpm and 80Nm of torque at 3,230rpm. The bike comes mated to a five speed-transmission and it gets ABS as standard with a 310mm single disc in the front and a 255mm disc in the rear. Inspired from the 70s, the bike gets upright handlebar, twin-pod console and round headlamp. The Bonneville T100 is priced at Rs 8.07 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

 

The Triumph Street Triple 765 is powered by a 765cc, inline three-cylinder engine that generates 111bhp of power at 11,250rpm and 73Nm of torque at 9,100rpm. The powerful engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission. Currently available only in S variant, the bike comes loaded with features like ABS, traction control, a quickshifter, and adjustable lever. The bike is priced at Rs 8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Although all the bikes in the category come from diverse segments, there is something for everyone that suits their personal taste and needs.
