- Limited to 341 units worldwide
-Will be available in India
Ducati has unveiled the Monster Senna, a limited edition motorcycle that commemorates the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. The motorcycle features a special livery and lighter components among other highlights. It is limited to 341 units worldwide. How have they come to this number? Well, 3 denotes the number of World Championships and 41 denotes the number races that Senna has won in Formula One.
Monster Senna: Design
The body panels on the motorcycle are similar to what we’ve seen on the standard Ducati Monster. What sets this motorcycle apart is the lovely tribute livery that’s similar to Ayrton Senna’s race helmet.
The Monster Senna is coloured in the iconic yellow paint on the windscreen, fuel tank, underbelly cowl, front brake callipers, passenger seat cowl and the tail section. Contrasting beautifully with the yellow colour are streaks of Green and Blue on the bodywork. Even the red, blue and yellow stripes on the forged aluminium wheels and the blue coloured rider’s seat is tastefully executed.
Overall, the Ducati Monster Senna looks stunning and what makes it even more special is the ‘Senna’ logos, the xxx/341 serial number on the handlebar and the certificate of authenticity that the bike comes with. Owners will also get a special motorcycle cover with the bike.
Monster Senna: Special bits
The Monster Senna is lighter than the standard Monster by 4kg. The weight savings were achieved by fitting forged wheels as well as carbon fibre front and rear mudguards.
The bike also has Termignoni, dual barrel exhaust with carbon fibre end caps and billet aluminium footpegs. It also gets an Ohlins steering damper and Ohlins front and rear suspension.
Monster Senna: The connection
Ducati and Artyon Senna have collaborated in the past. The Brazilian, in fact, owned one of the first Monster 900s. Ducati had also rolled out the 916 Senna in 1994 and the Panigle 1199 S Senna in 2014 in honour of the 20th anniversary of the passing away of the champ. The Monster Senna marks the 30th anniversary of the year when Formula 1 lost the icon in a tragic crash during the Imola Grand Prix.
Monster Senna: The mechanicals
The Monster Senna is mechanically the same as the standard bike. It is powered by a 937cc, L-twin engine that makes 111bhp at 9,250rpm and 93Nm at 6,500rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Monster Senna: Coming to India
Ducati will be allocating a few bikes for India as well. Those interested in buying the Monster Senna need to contact their nearest Ducati dealership and make a reservation. The bikes will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The Monster Senna is priced at $25,000 or Rs 20.84 lakh. Expect it to cost a little more than that in India after local taxes and registration charges have been added. Nevertheless, for fans of Ayrton Senna this will be a collector’s item and hence the price should hardly matter.
