-New Iceberg White colour
-Bookings open for the same
- The bike has a 937cc, L-twin engine that makes 111bhp
Ducati India is all set to launch a new colour for the Monster. Called Iceberg White, the colourway consists of a white fuel tank, front fender and tail section. Adding some contrast to the predominantly white colour are the red-coloured rider and pillion seat. These seats certainly look great against the white but may turn out to be a pain to keep clean in India’s dusty and grimy road conditions. Perhaps a regular visit to a detailing shop or covering the seats with a transparent sheath might help.
The new white colour will also enhance the road presence of the Ducati Monster. This should help appease some of the enthusiasts who felt the new Monster doesn’t have the visual mass that the Monster 821 possessed.
In all, the Monster is available in three colours- Iceberg White, Ducati Red and Aviator Grey.
Barring the new introduction of the new colour, there are no mechanical changes. The Ducati Monster is powered by a 937cc, Testastretta, L-twin engine that makes 111bhp at 9,250rpm and 93Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox that has a quick shifter as standard.
With the launch of this generation of Monster, Ducati ditched the trellis frame for a new aluminium frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. As for the suspension, you’ve got a 43mm, non-adjustable USD fork and a monoshock. Braking duties are taken care of by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
The bike also gets a comprehensive set of electronics. This includes ride modes, cornering ABS, traction control and more. The settings for these can be adjusted using the 4.3-inch TFT screen.
We’ve tested the Ducati Monster and found it to be quite an involving and entertaining street-naked motorcycle. That said, it is also quite expensive, at Rs 12.95 lakh, ex-showroom. The competition, like the Triumph Street Triple R is priced at Rs 10.43 lakh while featuring adjustable suspension. The Street Triple RS, is more powerful and has Ohlins suspension and a stickier set of tyres while costing Rs 12.07 lakh, ex-showroom.
