Ducati has launched the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak in India at Rs 20.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Based on the Multistrada 1200 S, this special edition motorcycle derives its name from the iconic hill climb event which is hosted in Colorado, US, every year.
The Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak is pegged as a sportier version of the litre-class sports touring motorcycle. It comes equipped with sophisticated fully-adjustable Ohlins USD forks and rear suspension, a Termignoni exhaust system and a carbon fibre windshield. The Ducati Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak comes painted in a splendid dual-tone livery inspired by Ducati’s racing colours.
Powering the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak is the same 1198cc Testastretta DVT L-twin engine, which churns out 160bhp and 136Nm of torque. The engine gets ride-by-wire throttle with different rider modes, and is mated to a six-speed transmission. The electronics package, which includes cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control and cruise control has been carried over from the standard Multistrada 1200 S.
Speaking about this launch, Ravi Avalur, MD, Ducati India said, “The Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak is a motorcycle in which touring capability meets performance. With its race inspired looks and cutting edge technology, the Pikes Peak is in a league of its own and we’re sure enthusiasts will appreciate this version of the Multistrada.”
As for the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, Ducati has already started accepting bookings for the motorcycle for a token of Rs 1 lakh. This motorcycle is expected to be launched here in the next couple of months.
