The Ducati Multistrada 1260, a replacement for the Multistrada 1200, has been launched in India. It is available in two trims, standard and 1260 S, and costs around Rs 65,000 more than its predecessor. For the extra money, you get a bunch of additional features and technology. The Multistrada 1260 might look the same, but gets minor revisions to the fairing and a new LED headlamp setup with cornering function for the S trim.
It is based on the same trellis frame with slight revisions and a new steering angle. The swingarm is 48mm longer.
The Multistrada 1260 S gets a 5-inch full-colour TFT screen, while the standard model gets a LCD display. Both get multimedia system which can pair with your phone.
The L-twin Testastretta DVT engine has been borrowed from the XDiavel. It is mated to a six-speed transmission with bi-directional quickshifter.
Although the displacement has gone up, the output of the Multistrada 1260 is marginally lower at 156bhp and 96Nm of torque.
Nevertheless, Ducati claims that the new engine delivers 85 per cent more torque below 3500rpm and 12 per cent more power below 5500rpm.
The rider aids include cornering ABS, eight-level wheelie control, eight-level traction control, vehicle hold control for uphill starts and cruise control.
The standard Multistrada 1260 and S get Sachs inverted front forks and rear monoshock. Both are adjustable for preload, compression and preload.
The Multistrada 1260 S gets Skyhook system, which electronically adjusts the suspension settings according to the terrain.
The Multistrada 1260 is available in red paint scheme, while the Multistrada 1260 S is offered in white, grey and red.
