- To be a replacement for the Multistrada 1200.
- Likely to be priced around Rs 15.5 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs.
- To compete against the BMW R1200GS.
Just a week after it launched the Monster 797 Plus, Ducati is scheduled to launch the Multistrada 1260 in India on 19 June. While we expect the S variant to arrive first, it will be followed by the standard and Pikes Peak versions in the next few months.
The design is the same as the previous model although with minor revisions to the fairing. It also gets a new LED headlamp. Ducati has revised the trellis frame on the Multistrada 1260 with a 25 degree steering angle as compared to the earlier 24 degrees along with a swingarm that is 48mm longer.
Powering the bike is a 1262cc, L-twin Testastretta DVT engine that produces 156bhp and 96Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed transmission and bi-directional quickshifter. The Multi 1260’s electronics package includes an eight-level traction control, eight-level wheelie control, hill-hold control, cruise control and cornering ABS. While the top-spec variants are equipped with a 5-inch TFT instrument display, the standard bike gets an LCD unit.
The manufacturer’s flagship adventure-tourer is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 15.5 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs. Once launched, the Multistrada 1260 will compete against the BMW R1200 GS in India.
