New spy shots of Ducati’s upcoming entry-level Multistrada have been circulating over the internet letting in few crucial details about the adventure tourer.
Ducati’s intentions of launching an entry-level Multistrada were first revealed when the bike was spotted undergoing trials in Europe earlier this month. However, heavy camouflage on the test mule divulged very few details. Now though, latest spy shots of this new Multistrada taken at a garage confirm that the bike will be powered by the 937cc L-twin engine from the Hypermotard and the SuperSport.
While the styling has been lifted off the Multistrada 1200, the double sided swingarm distinguishes it from its elder sibling. Reports suggest that the Multistrada 939 will get a lower seat height to make it less intimidating for novice riders. It will also be lighter and less powerful than the litre-class Multistrada 1200. Power output can be expected to be in the range of 112bhp and 98Nm of torque like the Hypermotard and the SuperSport, though the gear ratios and engine’s tuning will be different to suit the bike’s character.
Taking into account the rise in demand for adventure touring models in India, the Ducati Multistrada 939 is expected to be introduced here within a few months of its global launch. With a price tag of around Rs 13 lakh, it will compete with the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, Suzuki V-Strom and the Kawasaki Versys 1000.
