- Ducati delivered the 1,00,000th Multistrada to a customer from Germany
- It was a 1260 Pikes Peak edition with special laser-etched ‘Ducati’ branding
- Also revealed that the Multistrada V4 will be introduced in 2021
Ducati’s adventure touring motorcycle range, the Multistrada, has reached the one lakh units production milestone. The Italian bikemaker’s Bologna-based factory dispatched the 1,00,000th unit of the motorcycle and handed over to Dave Hayward, a buyer from Germany, by the company’s CEO Claudio Domenicali. This was the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak edition with a special laser-etched ‘Ducati’ branding on the top yoke.
The legendary streak of Multistrada models begun sixteen years back in 2003 when Ducati introduced the 1000 DS model. Since then, the company has been improvising on the consecutive iterations of the motorcycle, especially in terms of technology. The Multistrada received four riding modes in its 2010 model while the 2015 iteration got a boost in performance due to the introduction of Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) technology.
The current international line-up of the Multistrada comprises of seven versions including two 950s and five 1260s. The array of models include standard road-biased versions along with off-road-oriented Enduro variants. As for the Indian market, Ducati’s portfolio consists of three models with the top-of-the-line being the Multistrada 1260 Enduro which gets premium components such as semi-active Sachs suspension and Brembo brakes.
Alongside the aforementioned announcement, Ducati also spilled the beans about the V4-powered Multistrada model which generated a lot of curiosity after being spied in July. It will join the Ducati’s adventure touring line-up in 2021.
