Ducati has revealed the new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak that will reach the international markets very soon. This iteration of the Multistrada V4 packs a sportier persona than the standard motorcycle. The Indian launch details of the motorcycle are unavailable yet. While we await that announcement, here we explain all the details about the new Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.
Styling
The new Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak retain the design of the standard motorcycle. However, this variant is distinguished from the standard Multistrada V4 through its dedicated 'Pikes Peak' livery, a shorter windscreen, a 17-inch wheel setup on both ends, and a single-sided swingarm. The Marchesini forged aluminum rims are 2.7kg lighter than the units on the Multistrada V4S.
Apart from the styling revision, Ducati has also revised the aluminum monocoque frame to achieve a different inclination of the steering head (25.75-degrees as compared to the 24.5-degrees of the Multistrada V4). The trail and wheelbase geometry have also been recalibrated on the Pikes Peak edition. The design elements that are similar to the standard Multistrada V4 include a twin-pod headlight, a semi-fairing setup, a step-up saddle, a side-slung exhaust, and a dual-tone cover for the pillion seat.
Revised Ergonomics
Ducati has also revised the ergonomics on the Pikes Peak edition. The footpeg position, on this variant of the Multistrada V4 family is higher and rear-set than the units on the Multistrada V4S. The handlebar, too, has been repositioned and the unit on the Pikes Peak edition is lower and narrower.
Features
The new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak edition retains features such as LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch TFT display, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) functionality from the standard motorcycle. However, the company has added the Race Riding mode to the motorcycle. Other electronic rider aids retained from the standard model include riding modes, power modes, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, daytime running light, cornering light, and vehicle hold control. Furthermore, the TFT display features a full-map navigation system.
Engine
The new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak retains the 1,158cc, 90-degree-V4 cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 167.6bhp at 10,500rpm and 125Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware
The suspension tasks on the motorcycle are handled by 48mm Ohlins front forks and an Ohlins TTX36 rear mono-shock that works with the Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 electronic adjustment system. The braking duties are handled by 330mm semi-floating discs with radially mounted Brembo Stylema monobloc four-piston two-pad callipers at the front and a single 265mm single rotor with a Brembo two-piston floating calliper at the back.
