The new Ducati Multistrada V4 RS went on sale in India recently. It is the faster and sportiest iteration in the Multistrada V4 range. Here are its top five highlights.
The most powerful V4 engine in a Multistrada
The bike has a 1,103cc, Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine which features Desmo valves, unlike the Granturismo V4 engine in the other Multistrada V4s. This engine makes 180bhp at 12,250rpm and 118Nm at 9,500rpm and comes paired with a six-speed gearbox. These power figures will give you a fair idea about the performance that this bike is capable of. Not to mention the intoxicating sound it’ll make from the Akrapovic exhaust.
A different appearance
Visually, the Multistrada V4 RS distinguishes itself using a dedicated colour pattern. The Iceberg White colour, as it is called, along with the contrasting red stripes gives the bike a sporty appearance. There are red accents on the brake calipers and the spokes on the wheels. Adding to the looks is the single-sided swingarm.
Electronics galore
Being a top-level Ducati, the Multistrada V4 is packed with a comprehensive electronics suite. It includes four power modes (Full, High, Medium, and Low), traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, and four ride modes (Race, Sport, Touring, and Urban). The Multistrada V4 RS also gets a Full Power Mode and that turns up the ferocity of the bike’s acceleration.
The chassis
The aluminium monocoque chassis of the bike is suspended by an electronically adjustable Ohlins suspension at the front and rear. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 330mm discs with Brembo Stylema calipers and 265mm disc at the rear with a Brembo two-piston caliper. Ducati has also worked on keeping the weight of the bike in check. This is done by using 17-inch, Marchesini forged aluminium rims at both ends and a titanium subframe that is 2.5kg lighter than the subframe on the other Multistrada V4s.
Price and competition
Ducati has priced the bike at Rs 38.40 lakh, ex-showroom. It goes up against the BMW M 1000 XR.
