Ducati has announced the launch of the BS6-compliant Panigale V4 in the Indian market. The supersport motorcycle, which has been introduced in two variants in India, is available from Rs 23.50 lakh onwards. Here we list the top five highlights of the new Ducati Panigale V4 range.
Variants and Prices
The Ducati Panigale V4 BS6 will be available in two variants – Standard and S. The base version has been priced at Rs 23.50 lakh while the S variant, which packs an electronically adjustable suspension setup is available at Rs 28.40 lakh. Both variants would be available in a single colour option, Ducati Red. The bookings for the motorcycle are now open and the deliveries will begin as soon as lockdown restrictions are lifted.
Engine
The mechanical specifications on the BS6-compliant Ducati Panigale V4 include an updated, 1,103cc, Desmosedici Stradale 90-degree V4, liquid-cooled engine. To eliminate any loss of power during the BS6 transition, the exhaust on the new model uses larger catalysts (+10mm in length) and packs a new technology of impregnation of noble metals. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the motor produces 211bhp of power at 13,000rpm and 124Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm. The gearbox benefits from a bidirectional quickshifter.
Hardware
The suspension setup on the standard model includes manually-adjustable Showa front forks and a Sachs rear mono-shock. The S variant, on the other hand, gets electronically-adjustable Ohlins shock absorbers. The braking hardware comprises twin 330mm discs with Brembo Monobloc Stylema (M4.30) four-piston callipers at the front and a single 245mm rotor with two-piston callipers at the front.
Features
Standard features on both variants include LED headlights and a five-inch fully-digital colour display. The electronic safety aids, which work with a six-axis IMU, comprise Bosch cornering ABS, wheelie control, traction control system, launch control, slide control, and engine brake control. The 2021 Panigale V4 also features a new riding mode strategy. The 2021 model comes equipped with Race Riding Mode that comprises two mappings (Race A and Race B). The new mode joins the existing Sport and Street.
Design
The design of the BS6-compliant Panigale V4 remains similar to its predecessor. The new model, however, benefits from an aerodynamic package that is claimed to deliver 30kg of downforce at 270kmph. The 2021 model also gets a chain guard fin, a provision for heated grips, a new grip for the ignition key, and new self-bleeding brake and clutch pumps that were first used on the Superleggera V4. Styling cues retained from the old model include a twin-pod headlight setup, a full-fairing, a rider-only saddle, underbelly exhaust setup, and a single-sided swingarm.
