- Two booked units out of the five bikes allotted for India have been delivered
- Panigale V4 R is the WSBK race-spec edition of the standard V4
- Features top-spec components and MotoGP derived design bits
Ducati India has delivered the first two units of the limited-edition Panigale V4 R in the country. With only five units allotted for India, two units were booked last month. The Italian bike maker had officially launched the motorcycle in November carrying a sticker price of Rs 51.87 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
Being a WSBK homologation bike, the Panigale V4 R comes with a host of changes to its styling, mechanicals, electronics and power output figures. In terms of looks, the standard V4’s already aggressive-looking design is further accentuated by the addition of winglets, larger windscreen and air vents on the fairing which, apart from its aerodynamic advantages, looks wicked. Under the lightweight fairing, the front frame has been modified to achieve the stiffness targets set by Ducati Corse.
As per the WSBK guidelines, the Panigale V4 R houses a 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R motor instead of the 1103cc on the standard V4. Despite its smaller displacement, the engine churns out 218bhp and 112Nm which is higher than the standard model in terms of power output. On the mechanical front, the motorcycle comes equipped with race-grade Öhlins suspension setup with mechanical adjustment and an aluminium swingarm with an adjustable four-position axle.
The electronic controls on the motorcycle are borrowed from the Panigale V4 S, that have ben further revised with more settings. The package includes Bosch cornering ABS, traction control, slide control, wheelie control, launch control, bi-directional quick-shifter and engine brake control. To top it off, there is also a pit limiter and lap timer as well.
The Ducati Panigale V4 R is the most powerful road-legal production motorcycle by Ducati in the market. Featuring special race-inspired livery, the V4 R rivals against the MV Agusta F4 RC in the country.
