- Top-spec Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera teased
- Gets carbon-fibre fairing and likely carbon-fibre wheels
- Will feature a titanium exhaust system
Ducati has been spied testing a test mule of the Panigale V4 featuring a couple of changes suggesting it to be the top-spec Superleggera version of the motorcycle. Ducati had the V-twin powered Panigale 1299 Superleggera that was kitted with the best components making it one of the most desirable Ducatis to ever be produced. With the brand working on different applications of the new V4 motor including Multistrada V4 and the Streetfighter V4, it only makes sense to also put together a top-spec version of the Panigale V4.
The spied test mule looked very similar to the current V4 R, featuring aero winglets and the distinctive slits in the fairing. However, look closely and you will notice the small yet definite differences. First up is the extensive use of carbon fibre for the faring which is relatable to the previous Panigale Superleggera model as it had a monocoque, composite carbon fibre chassis, magnesium engine casings, titanium fasteners and an exhaust system. Expect the V4 powered Panigale Superleggera to also receive a similar treatment. Notably, the test mule has ‘Titanium’ engraved on the right side of the exhaust system, further suggesting it to the Superleggera version. To give a perspective, the Panigale 1299 Superleggera tipped the scale at just 167kg which is a massive 33kg drop in weight compared to the 1299 S which weighed at 190kg.
Furthermore, the test mule was spotted with five-spoke alloy wheels that are identical to the ones that were offered on 1299. The light-weight wheels are made of carbon fibre which again confirms the test mule being a Superleggera. Besides the physical differences, one can also expect the V4 Superleggera to pump out slightly more power than the V4 R.
With the World Ducati Premiere 2020 scheduled to be held on 23 October, there is a high chance that the company might take the wraps off the Panigale V4 Superleggera along with other new models that will be unveiled at the event.
