Ducati has recalled its super premium motorcycle – the 1199 Superleggera due to issues with the clutch.
This recall will affect 168 units that were sold in USA between April 8, 2014 and November 13, 2014. As per Ducati, the damper plate assembled between the primary driven gear and the clutch basket assembly could break due to fatigue. And if this happens, there could be a possibility of engine seizing and the rear wheel locking up. This might result in a crash that might injure the rider.
In order to fix this issue, the Italian manufacturer will notify the affected customers via its dealers, and will install a new clutch assembly free of charge. This recall process is expected to begin from July 18.
