Ducati has registered a slight increase on 0.7 per cent in sales with 55,871 motorcycles sold in 2017 as against the 55,461 units sold in 2016, globally. This is an increase of only 410 units.
The manufacturer recorded a 12 per cent growth in its domestic market, Italy while sales in Spain grew by a commendable 28 per cent. However, increase in sales for the entire European continent was registered at 4 per cent. The USA was not as profitable a market as Europe with a 1.3 per cent growth with 8,898 units sold. In Asia, Ducati sold 5,805 units with a 31 per cent growth in China. As for India, the manufacturer was not available for comment on the 2017 sales figures.
Ducati credits the SuperSport, Multistrada 950 and the Scrambler range for the increase in sales in 2017. While in India, the entry-level streetfighter Monster 797 garners most of the sales numbers for the manufacturer.
With production already commenced, Ducati will launch its flagship supersport bike, the Panigale V4 in global markets this year. Along with the Panigale V4, Ducati will launch the updated Monster 821 and Multistrada 1260 in India.
