- Ducati to resume production from 27 April in Italy
- Only essential employees will be working at the factory while undertaking all precautions
- Many orders for the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour and Panigale V2 are pending to be delivered
Ducati has officially announced that it will resume operations at its Borgo Panigale factory in Italy from today, 27 April 2020. The company had suspended production on 13 March obeying the government’s directives which were put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus.
The company has clarified that due to the gradually improving health condition in Italy, the government is now allowing those companies to resume functions which play a major role in the country’s economy. Also, those manufacturers which carry out exports to a huge extent and whose inactivity might put a great impact on additional market share are being allowed to restart functions.
After over a month of suspension, this is the first phase of resuming operations which will be carried out with all the necessary precautionary measures. Firstly, only essentially needed employees delegated to workshop, engine assembling and motorcycle assembling departments will start visiting the facility and carry out their duties. People involved in R&D of products will also restart their testing processes. However, the employees from those departments for whom it is feasible to work remotely will continue doing so.
Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali has also stated that bikes such as the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour and the Panigale V2 had received many orders before the lockdown and their deliveries are pending. Stock of the Multistrada 950 and Scrambler 1100 Pro is also empty while the production of the newly-launched (internationally) Streetfighter V4 had also stopped a month after it commenced.
