Ducati has crossed the landmark of producing one million motorcycles from its Borgo Panigale production facility in Bologna, Italy. The millionth motorcycle was a Monster 1200S, which was handed over to its owner at a presentation ceremony which was presided over by Claudio Domenicali, the CEO of Ducati.
The event took place at the Audi City Lab in Milan, Italy and also saw the presence of Rupert Stadler, the chairman of Audi AG. The one millionth motorcycle has been specially customised with a unique serigraph on its handlebar bracket, showing the chronological number reached by the company.
Speaking about this feat, Claudio Domenicali said, “Between 1946 and today we have designed, built and delivered one million dreams that have become reality to Ducatisti. Our strength is in the exceptional work that all of the Ducati employees carry out so efficiently on a daily basis, contributing to making our bikes beautiful, unique and desirable. To deliver the millionth bike produced directly into the hands of a passionate Ducatista is an incredible feeling and an incentive to continue along our growth path.”
The Monster 1200 S is the newest iteration of the iconic series, and is powered by a 1,198cc Testastretta 11-degree engine which produces 130bhp and 113Nm of torque. The Monster is an important motorcycle series for Ducati, one which wrote a fundamental chapter in the company’s history and helped it widen its audience and increase its sales numbers.
