Ducati will be introducing its flagship Scrambler model, the Scrambler 1100, in India very soon. The motorcycle will be aimed at buyers looking for a litre-class modern classic. Dealers have started accepting bookings for the bike for token amount starting from Rs one lakh. Here is what you can expect from the Ducati Scrambler 1100 -
Retro styling
While the Bonneville has always been the quintessential modern classic, it is Ducati which made the genre so popular with the new range of Scrambler. While the first modern Scramblers were middleweights, the Scrambler 1100 was developed recognising the potential for a higher-capacity model. The tank and overall profile might look similar to the smaller Scrambler, but there are a bunch of differentiating styling cues. The Scrambler 1100 gets a new headlamp design with an LED ring, new 10-spoke wheels, twin underseat exhaust system and a digital instrument console.
New platform
Ducati didn’t just plonk a bigger engine in the same platform, but developed a new steel trellis frame. It even gets a steep 24.5-degree head angle to improve the agility. At the rear is a new aluminium swingarm. Even the ergonomics have been revised. Powering the Scrambler 1100 is a 1079cc Desmodue V-twin engine delivering 84bhp and 88Nm of torque, through a six-speed transmission.
Loaded with rider aids
Unlike the smaller Scrambler, the Scrambler 110 features ride-by-wire and a bunch of rider aids. The electronics package consists of a four-level traction control, cornering ABS and three riding modes - Active, Journey and City.
Two variants
The Scrambler 1100 was launched in three variants, although we will only get the base and the Sport variant in India. The base uses Marzocchi front forks and a Kayaba rear monoshock, while the Sport benefits from an Ohlins suspension setup.
Pricing
The Scrambler 1100 will be the most expensive Scrambler on sale, and we expect the Ducati Scrambler 1100 to be priced between Rs 11 lakhs and Rs 12 lakhs. The Sport will set you back by an additional Rs 1 lakh. The Scrambler 1100 will share the segment with the BMW R nineT Scrambler and the Moto Guzzi Griso.
