The Mumbai dealership of Ducati has commenced bookings for the Scrambler motorcycle. This entry-level Italian has been priced at Rs 6.57 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) and for now, only the Icon red version will be available for the Indian market.
The Italian manufacturer went full throttle with its launches after entering the Indian market officially. It launched the entire range in India with a mouth-watering price for some models. In case of the Scrambler, the company decided to go with only one variant to test out the response from the consumers. The Scrambler is available in Icon, Urban Enduro, Classic and Full Throttle.
The four versions differ mostly cosmetically. The Icon version comes in yellow and red, and sits in the middle of the other three models - Urban Enduro, Full Throttle, and Classic. The Urban Enduro comes in a wild green colour and is for enduro style enthusiasts. The Full Throttle is more flat-track oriented and the Classic has been inspired from the 1970s and has been targeted at riders who are looking for pure riding pleasure, with the comfort of a modern-day bike.
The Scrambler is powered by an 803cc air-cooled V-Twin engine that churns out 75bhp at 8,250rpm and a maximum torque of 5,750rpm. This engine is mated to a six speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The Scrambler will be sold as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit through Thailand. The deliveries will begin in the first half of May and depending on the response, the company will get the Icon yellow version next.
