The Ducati Scrambler was voted as the ‘most beautiful bike’ at the recently concluded 2014 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. In the annual poll organised by the Italian publication ‘Motociclismo’, 43 per cent of over 10,000 fans who participated this year chose the retro Scrambler as the winner of the competition.
The new Ducati Scrambler is a spiritual successor to the iconic Scrambler motorcycles of the 1960s and 1970s. The new Scrambler motorcycle perfectly portrays the minimalist approach of the original 250cc and 450cc Scramblers. Though unlike its single-cylinder predecessors, the new Scrambler is propelled by a liquid-cooled 696cc V-twin engine, which has been borrowed from the Monster 696.
Participants of the poll got a chance to cast their vote either through a visitor’s form at the venue or through an online portal. The Scrambler dominated the poll by surpassing the MV Agusta Brutale RR Dragster, which could manage to garner only 15 per cent of the votes. The other motorcycles who made it to the top five are - the new Yamaha YZF-R1 (14 per cent) Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory (eight per cent) and the BMW S1000 XR (six per cent). Previous winners of this poll includes the Ducati Monster 1200S (2013), MV Agusta Rivale 800 (2012) and the Ducati 1199 Panigale (2011).
