Ducati has temporarily halted sales of the Scrambler, Monster 821, Diavel and the Panigale 1299 in India, the reason being their non-compliance with BS-IV emission norms. The company will launch these models with BSIV compliant engines by the end of 2017 or early 2018.
With the Indian automotive industry’s move to BS-IV emission norms since 1 April 2017, sales of BSIII-compliant motorcycles have been stopped. In an attempt to clear existing stock, Ducati dealerships had been offering discounts of up to Rs 1.5 lakh on these motorcycles. Now though, the dealerships seem to have cleared the stock of the motorcycles.
Now that the Scrambler is not on sale, the recently launched Monster 797 has become the most affordable Ducati. Ducati has already showcased Euro 4 compliant versions of the Scrambler and Monster range at the EICMA 2016, and will launch these bikes here by the end of this year.
Ducati still sells the Euro III compliant versions of the Panigale 1299 and 1299 S in Europe. This is a result of exemptions which allow a manufacturer to sell limited numbers of the motorcycle for two years. Except for the Panigale 1299 and 1299 S the entire Ducati range is Euro 4 complaint.
