A few spy shots of the Ducati Scrambler have been circulating on the internet ever since the manufacturer teased the motorcycle, last month. Now though, Italy’s Motociclismo magazine has published some clear pictures of the motorcylce, which shows the Scrambler in its production-ready form.
The pictures show the Scrambler painted in a yellow livery with chrome inserts on the tank and engine case, though the badging is still missing. The Scrambler will be built around a trellis frame with low exhaust pipe, a short tail and rear grab handles, which give it a very retro appeal.
With a low and short stance, a high set handlebar and retro styling, the new motorcycle reminds us of the single-cylinder 250 and 450cc Scramblers of the 1960s and 70s. The new Scrambler though, will be powered by an air-cooled twin-cylinder 696cc engine, which churns out 80bhp and 69Nm of torque.
The Scrambler will be an entry-level motorcycle for the Italian manufacturer, slotting below the Monster 696. While the motorcycle will be pretty basic in terms of equipment, reports suggest that the Scrambler will be sold with a range of visually customisable options including a rear tyre hugger and saddles.
The Scrambler will break cover at the 2014 World Ducati Week in Italy, on July 18. It will go on sale in Europe by early 2015, around the same time when Triumph will be ready with its own small capacity motorcycle.
