Ducati has introduced the first ever production motorcycle which has been wirelessly integrated with airbag riding jackets. The motorcycle in question is the Multistrada D-Air which will be sold only in Europe from May 2014 onwards.
The motorcycle features a fully integrated intelligent system of sensors wirelessly connected to Ducati airbag jackets, developed by Dainese. The intelligent passive safety system uses sensors built into the Multistrada's existing electronics to constantly understand the vehicle's dynamic situation and deploying only when subjected to a genuine accident scenario. The Multistrada D-Air system completes the data analysis and airbag deployment inside both the rider and passenger jackets in 45 milliseconds.
This brilliant innovation by Ducati and Dainese has taken the technology in motorcycles to a completely different level. However, everything comes with a price and we are sure this technology won’t be cheap.
