- 156 motorcycles recalled in the North American market
- All affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory
- Dealers will inspect and resolve the issue
Ducati North America has recalled the 2021 Streetfighter V4 and the V4S over a potential generator rotor (flywheel) problem. The recall notice states that the generator rotor on certain 2021 Streetfighter series motorcycles may break. This could damage the generator cover and cause oil leakage from the engine. A total of 156 motorcycles have been affected by this recall.
The notice further added that all affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory. Dealers will inspect the production dates on the generator rotors and replace them if necessary.
The company stated that the generator rotor could have a potential issue involving the raw material. The steel bars that are used as the raw material may have cracks that, after the forging process, are still present on the final component. The company has not received any customer complaints, injuries or crashes related to this issue.
The batches of generator rotors identified as potentially defective are – 280620, 290620, 300620, 010720, 020720, and 030720.
In other updates, the Italian two-wheeler brand will soon introduce its new, middleweight supersport motorcycle, the Panigale V2 in India. The bookings for the Panigale V2 are now open, although the company hasn't revealed the launch date yet.
