Ducati has introduced their new everyday sportbikes, the SuperSport and SuperSport S, in the Indian market. The SuperSport moniker was revived last year as a part of the company’s 70th anniversary celebrations, and it shares the market space with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F. The SuperSport’s design has been inspired by the 959 Panigale, though it gets comfortable ergonomics to make it more practical for everyday use.
Styling cues like the split headlamp design, sculpted fuel tank, single-sided swingarm and Y-spoke design of the wheels give it an exotic appeal.
The SuperSport gets pannier mounts, adjustable windscreen and a large 16-litres fuel tank to make it more practical for long hauls.
Powering the SuperSport is a 937cc Testastretta L-twin engine, which delivers 113bhp and 96Nm of torque.
The six-speed transmission gets a slipper clutch. The SuperSport S additionally gets a quickshifter for clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
The electronic package includes ABS, traction control, riding modes and a multimedia system for the rider’s smartphone.
The SuperSport gets twin 320mm discs up front and a single 245mm disc in the rear. ABS is offered as standard.
The SuperSport rides on Marzocchi front forks and a Sachs monoshock, while the SuperSport S gets an Ohlins suspension setup.
The standard SuperSport is available only in Ducati’s traditional blood red paint scheme with black wheels, and is priced at Rs 12.08 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The SuperSport S is available in two paint schemes – red and white. The former is priced at Rs 13.39 lakhs while the latter retails at Rs 13.60 lakhs (ex-showroom).
