The Ducati Sports Week showed participants and the world what Ducati had in store for them. On the sidelines, the Ducati SuperSport was also showcased. Here we have a computer generated image of the bike. Here are some details on the Ducati SuperSport or what the company calls the Project 1312.
Ducati has confirmed that there will be two models of the motorcycle, the SuperSport and SuperSport S. The engine is based on the Hypermotard 939’s liquid-cooled L-twin powerhouse. Being 937cc, Ducati say the the engine has been heavily modified to make it suitable for the new SuperSport. The reworked engine is said to produce around 110bhp.
The chassis of the motorcycle is based on the one from the Monster. The wheels appear almost identical to the one on the 1299 Panigale and come wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso II rubber. What’s interesting is that the motorcycle also features a single-sided swingarm, which is not seen even on their 959 Panigale. The bike on display was the SuperSport S, which features Öhlins suspension front and rear with no electronic assistance. The base model is likely to be equipped with a Sachs set up. Helping the motorcycle come to a standstill are two 320mm semi-floating discs using Brembo M4 four-piston calipers. Expect ABS and rider modes to be part of the standard equipment on this motorcycle.
The source also states that the motorcycles will likely be called the 939 SuperSport and 939 SuperSport S and reach UK Ducati dealers next year.
