Ducati is about to launch the SuperSport in India on 22 September. Ducati dealerships have started accepting bookings for the sports touring motorcycle for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.
The SuperSport will be offered in two variants – the SuperSport and the SuperSport S. The split headlamp design with LED DRLs, sculpted fuel tank, single-sided swingarm and the Y-spoke design of the wheels give the SuperSport an exotic appeal. The ergonomics have been designed to offer an upright riding position which makes it comfortable while riding through cities and during long hauls. The 16-litres fuel tank should aid the bike’s touring capabilities.
The SuperSport is built around a steel trellis frame and powered by a 937cc L-twin Testastretta engine. The engine delivers 110bhp and 93Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed transmission slipper clutch. While the SuperSport rides on Marzocchi front forks and Sachs monoshock, the SuperSport S uses Ohlins hardware. The electronics package includes three-level ABS, traction control and three riding modes.
We can expect the SuperSport to be priced around Rs 11.5 lakhs while the SuperSport S is likely to be slightly more expensive at Rs 13 lakhs. It will rival against the litre-class sports tourers like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F.
