Ducati is going to launch the SuperSport in India tomorrow. A rival to litre-class sports tourers like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F, it will be available in two trims – SuperSport and SuperSport S.
The styling of the SuperSport is heavily inspired by the 959 Panigale, though it gets slightly upright seating ergonomics to make it a more comfortable everyday bike. It even gets pannier mounts and adjustable windscreen to make it improve its touring capabilities. The split headlamp design with LED DRLs, sculpted fuel tank, single-sided swingarm and the Y-spoke design of the wheels give it an exotic appeal.
The SuperSport is powered by a 937cc L-twin Testastretta engine, which is similar to the one used in the Hypermotard and the Multistrada 950. The engine delivers 110bhp and 93Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and quick shifter. The electronics package includes three-level ABS, traction control and three riding modes. The standard SuperSport rides on Marzocchi front forks and Sachs monoshock, while the SuperSport S gets Ohlins suspension hardware.
Ducati dealers have started accepting bookings for the SuperSport, and deliveries are expected to commence soon. Prices are expected to be in the range of Rs 11.5 lakhs for the SuperSport and Rs 13 lakhs for the SuperSport S.
