Ducati has released a video teasing a new version of its top-of-the-line 1299 Panigale. The bike will be unveiled at the Laguna Seca WSB round in California on 7 July.
The special edition, or final edition as it might be known, Panigale retains the shape of the standard Panigale. But, the video reveals white detailing above the headlight and on the side fairing. Also, the thumbnail used for the video shows the bike in ‘Tricolore’ colour scheme featuring red, green and white. The Tricolore is something Ducati usually reserves for bikes with a limited run.
There’s a good chance that the bike will be a newer version of the Panigale R and might get the carbon-fibre frame from the 1299 Panigale Superleggera. It might also get the Akrapovic titanium exhaust from the latter.
Just for the record, the Superleggera is the lightest bike in its class, weighing in at just 150kg dry and delivering 223bhp with the race kit. It is also the most expensive bike to ever go on sale in India. Only one unit had been allotted for India out of the limited 500 units that came with a price tag of ₹ 1,12,82,000 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
As for the regular 1299 Panigale, it has been discontinued in India for now due to non-compliance to BS-IV emission norms. The company has not commented on the launch of a new Panigale here, although a replacement for the motorcycle will be unveiled at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show later this year.
