Ducati has released a teaser video of the newest member of the Scrambler family – the Desert Sled. To be unveiled at the 2016 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, this new variant will be a dual-sport version of the Scrambler targeted at off-road enthusiasts.
Though the teaser doesn’t reveal much, it does give a glimpse of the metal grill on the headlamp and the wide handlebar. We can expect it to feature rugged utilitarian cues like long travel suspension, bash plate, spoke wheels and upswept exhaust to boost its off-road capabilities. Rumours suggest that the Desert Sled will be based on the 803cc Scrambler and not the smaller Scrambler Sixty2.
Ever since the Scrambler was launched last year, the demand for the range has been quite surprising. Taking into account its popularity, Ducati launched two new variants of the Scrambler over the last year in addition to the existing four variants. However, it seems like the Desert Sled is just the tip of the iceberg. Ducati will be bringing five more versions of the Scrambler at the annual motorcycle show, at least one of which is a brand new variant (codenamed Ducati Scrambler CR). The rest of the models are expected to be Euro IV-compliant versions of existing line-up. We can expect further details to be revealed as we get closer to the launch date, though for now, we will have to wait for more of Ducati’s teaser videos.
