Ducati has revealed the 2015 version of its capable adventure tourer, the Multistrada. This bike was unveiled at the ongoing 2014 EICMA show and was seen sharing stage with the 1299 Ducati Panigale.
The 2015 Ducati Multistrada gets cosmetic as well some incredible mechanical and technological updates. On the cosmetic front, the Multistrada gets sharper styling cues along with new graphics that makes it look really good. We weren’t anyway expecting some revolutionary changes on the design front. But we were expecting the Multistrada to get the latest iteration of the Testastretta 1190 V-Twin mill that features the revolutionary Desmodromic variable timing in combination with dual-spark ignition and secondary air bleed. This has bumped up the power figure from 150bhp at 9,250rpm to 160bhp at 9,500rpm. The Italian manufacturer claims that at just 3,500rpm the torque is already at 80Nm and remains near constant, exceeding 100Nm between 5,750rpm and 9,500rpm.
The new Multistrada S gets a new full-LED headlight with corner-lighting technology. Additional peripheral lighting for the Multistrada S is available via a switch near the left grip that actuates two additional lights. All Multistradas roll on 17-inch wheels shod with the latest Pirelli Scorpion Trail II, a dedicated tyre in 120/70-16 front and 190/55-17 at the rear. In Europe, Ducati will continue to offer the Multistrada S D/Air model, which features a wireless connection to the airbag-equipped Ducati D/Air riding apparel by Dainese.
The 2015 Multistrada is also loaded with electronic cruise control, ride-by-wire power modes, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), height-adjustable seat and an LCD instrument panel that displays billions of data related to the motorcycle. Ducati’s patented cornering ABS is applied on this motorcycle. It makes use of the IMU (inertial measurement unit) platform to optimise front and rear braking power in critical situations with the bike at considerable lean angles.
The 2015 Ducati Multistrada is available in a red paint scheme with black wheels. The S version is also available in iceberg white, which looks really good. Ducati is yet to make its official presence in India but when it does, we can expect this daddy of tourers to come to India but with a hefty price tag.
