Team Aruba.it Racing, Ducati’s official factory racing team, has unveiled its race machine for the 2016 World Superbike Championship. This WSBK-spec Ducati Panigale R will be ridden by Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano for this season, as the last year’s runner-up team will attempt to dethrone Kawasaki from the top of the mantle.
It would require a very keen eye to distinguish the 2016 Panigale R and the previous year’s race machine, as both the motorcycles wear almost identical liveries. The motorcycle is painted in the iconic red livery, with contrasting red and white stripes across the length. Under the skin, though, this Panigale R has been given a majorly revised electronics package and a new suspension setup, developed in the past few months. The bike also gets the new GP-spec Akrapovic exhaust system.
Aruba.it Ducati pulled off 21 podiums and five race wins in the 2015 season, helping them score the runner-up position in the overall standings as well as the second position for Chaz Davies. This year, the team will attempt to better its results by aiming for the pole position.
