Two Ducati Scramblers were unveiled at the 2017 Verona Bike Expo – a known motorcycle show in Italy. The two bikes – the Scrambler R/T and the Essenza were built by two custom bike builders.
The design of the Scrambler R/T dates back to the time when the Ducati Scramblers were the talk of the town. This custom Scrambler was built by Avil Motociclette – an Italian outfit known for its 70s design. It took this company 53 days to make the Scrambler R/T and that’s what the number 53 represents on the bike. This machine is built on the Scrambler Sixty2. Except for the chassis, Avil tinkered with all other body components from the fuel tank to the seat, to give it an original 70s Scrambler appeal.
The other custom Scrambler – the Essenza gets more of a Café Racer treatment. It was built by South Garage from Milan who is known to get some outstanding custom Scramblers from their workshop. In the case of the Essenza too, the frame has been left untouched, along with the suspension. But other bits like the fairing which was influenced by a team punk design and exhaust are custom built.
The Scrambler range of bikes has turned Ducati around with its impressive sales. In the world of custom bike building too, the Scrambler has helped them add creativity and zest in their work.
