Ducati is working on a new V4 superbike that will be unveiled to the world within the next 12 months. This news was confirmed by Claudio Domenicalli, CEO, Ducati at the launch of the 2017 MotoGP team.
This motorcycle is expected to be based on the 1000cc V4 mill that powers the Ducati Desmosedici GP bike. While he didn’t really confirm the displacement of this upcoming bike, he did mention about the intentions of this bike competing in the World Superbike Championship.
This upcoming V4 superbike is expected to replace the Panigale R. It will also become the platform going forward in production-based racing championships.
"The engine development we have made in MotoGP is exceptional. We have an engine which is very reliable, very light, compact and has a lot of interesting technology. We are seriously thinking of introducing it to regular customers, because it is a masterpiece of engineering," Claudio Domenicalli said.
If certain rumours are to be believed, than this new Ducati might debut at 2017 EICMA Show. The company will put this motorcycle on sale as well, but expect it to be in limited numbers.
